About us............... and you.
The Marsh Ink writers' group was formed on the 4th March 1992 by the late Mary Prior, a gifted and prolific writer, for the express purpose of helping and encouraging other budding writers to become published. To this end it provides in-house help and advice on all aspects of getting ones work into the public domain from the layout of a manuscript, through editing to finding an agent or publisher. In parallel with this it arranges for professionals from the world of writing to give talks, set short writing exercises and run the occasional whole day workshops. Occasionally running its own worldwide writing competitions and having published three anthologies of members’ poems and short stories, the group has helped several writers to become professional authors and thus continued the ambition of Mary, who died in 1997. Since her death, the group has continued to flourish under a small but dedicated committee. Members come and members go, some return as professionals to help others and some do not. The group and the world of publishing as a whole, only continues to flourish due to a constant supply of new ideas from the next generation of younger writers. For without them the world of fantasy, science-fiction, romance and adventure would wither and die. Our aim, like Mary’s, is to keep that wonderful world alive and kicking, and new members with fresh ideas entering the group ensure that.
The important thing to remember when writing in any genre is to get the story line down on paper, spelling, grammar, editing, presentation and publication come later and that is where Marsh Ink comes in. You supply the imagination and new ideas, we simply help you to mould and reshape those ideas into a presentable and publishable format.
